2009 Collectable Holiday Ornament
The Royal Palms of Saint Lucie are excited to present the fifth annual collectible ornament. This year we have chosen the Platts-Backus House as the fourth in a series of historical landmarks.
The Platts-Backus house was built in 1896 by Iowa-born Dr. Clyde Phillips Platts and his wife, Clara. Dr. Platts was Fort Pierce's first doctor. A.E. "Bean" Backus purchased the house in 1960 from the Christian and Missionary Alliance. In 2005, Main Street Fort Pierce purchased the house and refurbished it.
We will also be selling a collection of our first five years of ornaments. This collection will feature: The 100 year Anniversary Ornament, Sunrise Theatre, PP Cobb Building Arcade Building, & this years Platts-Backus House. The entire set can be purchased for $70.
All proceeds benefit the women's and children's charities supported by The Royal Palms of Saint Lucie.
Price: $18 per ornament, set of first five ornaments $70.
Checks can be made payable to The Royal Palms. To order an ornament, please contact any Royal Palms member or Christa Miller, c.miller125@comcast.net or (772) 323-1011.
