2010 Collectable Holiday Ornament

In recognition of the 50th Anniversary of Indian River State College, IRSC has joined with The Royal Palms of St. Lucie County to create this commemorative ornament.

Indian River Junior College opened its doors on September 6, 1960 bringing eagerly awaited educational opportunities to the residents of Florida’s Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties. The College was launched with an emphasis on academic programs to prepare students for university transfer. That mission is represented by the book and lamp of knowledge depicted in the College seal on the left side of the ornament.

The logo at the center serves as a reminder of the College’s dynamic movement forward and draws the eye to the roundel on the right side of the ornament. It represents the College’s focus on science, technology, mathematics and emerging industries of the future.

The past decades have been characterized by notable growth as the College grew from Indian River Junior College, to Indian River Community College to Indian River State College. Over the years, the College has helped tens of thousands of area residents to fulfill their dreams or a college education and improved quality of life. Now, as the region’s state college, IRSC remains committed to student success while expanding programs and partnerships to support the economic vitality of the four-county area.

This ornament serves as a memento of 50 years of responsiveness and service to the educational and workforce needs of the Treasure Coast and as a symbol of the next half-century of innovation leading to a bright future. Ornaments will also be available at IRSC Bookstore.

The Royal Palms of St. Lucie will also be selling ornaments from the first 5 years. Ornaments can be purchased individually for $18, or a set of the first 5 years for $70. Ornaments will be sold on a first come first serve basis as there are limited numbers of ornaments from certain years.
